Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has announced that the PlayStation 4 has sold more than 30.2 million units as of 22nd November 2015. With this week’s Black Friday sales and the Holiday season coming up, it will be interesting to see how this figure jumps in the New Year.
“We are sincerely grateful that gamers across the globe have continued to choose PS4 as the best place to play since launch two years ago,” says Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. “We are committed to bringing engaging games and entertainment services to users worldwide. Thanks to the support of our partners, PS4 continues to be the premier platform for game and interactive entertainment innovation.”
The sales figure includes sales from Japan, North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, with the console currently available in 124 countries.
In comparison, Microsoft’s last announcement over a year ago revealed 10 million sales of the Xbox One. According to unofficial sales aggregator VGChartz, current Xbox One sales are around 15.6 million units, and Nintendo’s Wii U has only 11 million sales.
