Sony’s PS4 was expected to launch in China on January 11th 2015, after a 14-year ban on foreign game consoles was lifted in September 2014. However, Sony has delayed the launch with just days to go, citing “various factors”.
A new launch date hasn’t been announced yet, but Reuters have reported that the delay is partly due to prolonged negotiations with the Chinese government.
The Xbox One launched in China back in September last year, and was delayed too – but only by a week. Gaming is still very heavily regulated in the country, to the extent that the Xbox One has just 10 games available for console owners.
It’s unclear just how many PS4 games will be available to owners at launch.
