Sony has restored PlayStation Network connectivity for online multiplayer after the DDoS attack to the network over Christmas last week. While the overall network is back online, there are some areas that are still inaccessible, namely the Account Areas on the PlayStation website.
A statement from SCEA reads:
PlayStation Network is back online. As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.
Thanks again for your support and patience
We also have a few reports that verification emails when creating a new PSN / SEN account are intermittently not working. If you experience this issue, please contact Sony or wait a few hours before trying again.
