Last week we reported that Hacker Group DerpTrolling leaked thousands of PSN account details on the Internet, claiming that they hacked the PlayStation Network and other services. However, Sony ash now released a statement to Joystiq that no breach was detected, and account details are safe.
Sony said that the group involved were lying, or may have obtained account details through other means. Sony has the following to say:
“We have investigated the claims that our network was breached and have found no evidence that there was any intrusion into our network. Unfortunately, Internet fraud including phishing and password matching are realities that consumers and online networks face on a regular basis. We take these reports very seriously and will continue to monitor our network closely.”
The details could have been obtained by matching passwords from other hacked services, so it’s important to make sure your password is different across the various websites and services you may use.
