After yesterday’s PlayStation Network downtime, network access has been restored and the PSN is back online. The reason for the downtime was because of a distributed denial of service attack (DDoS), which saw artificial traffic slow down and even crash the PlayStation Network servers. Sony says there is no evidence of any intrusion to the network and no evidence of any unauthorised access to users’ personal information.
As a result of the downtime, Sony has postposed the maintenance period that was scheduled for later today. Sony will provide an update on when the maintenance will take place shortly.
