Yet another feature is making it’s way to the PS4 in the next firmware update. This time, it’s the ability to download a game that’s been pre-ordered ahead of the official release date, allowing you to have the game ready to play at launch. However, the feature may be limited to North America for the time being.
Responding to a question about the potential to do this for inFamous: Second Son which launched at midnight, Sucker Punch replied:
@EricRovtar @epsilonomega No preload on PS4 until April and for North America, the PS Store will update at midnight PST…so 3am EST.

They also stated that they only knew this to be true for SCEA and not necessarily for SCEE, which as we know doesn’t always operate in line with North America.
@Pharmboy044 Not sure about SCEE but yes on SCEA.

The tweet from Sucker Punch suggests that Firmware v1.70 could be released as soon as April, unless the pre-loading of pre-orders just needs to be turned on from the PlayStation Store servers.
