As mentioned last week, Sony’s pre-order limits for the PS4 are now in force across the UK and Europe, meaning console pre-ordered after August 6th 2013 are no longer guaranteed for launch day. The limit affects retailers mainly in the UK, including Amazon and ShopTo, so if you were smart enough to pre-order your console early, it will arrive for launch day.
Amazon.co.uk in particular have updated their product listing for the PS4, stating:
“Please note–due to high demand, orders placed for this PlayStation 4 console from August 6 may be received after release date. We will ship orders as soon as we receive sufficient inventory.”
ShopTo have posted a similar message on their website too:
“Please note that Sony have confirmed all Playstation 4 pre-orders placed from 6th August will now not be guaranteed for launch. You can still pre-order PS4 with us in case we receive cancellations and can fulfil your order for launch.”
Asda Direct also have a message on their website:
“Orders placed on or after 5th August are not guaranteed for Day 1 delivery.”
The exact release date for the console has yet to be revealed, but hopefully we should hear more at Gamescom later this month. The console is expected to release in mid-November 2013.
