If you haven’t pre-ordered a PS4 yet, chances are that you have some trouble getting your hands on a launch day unit. Several retailers are starting to report that their pre-order allocations of the PS4 have run out. This week alone, US retailers Amazon.com and GameStop have both stopped pre-orders on launch day units after fulfilling their allocations.
Sony had supposedly told GameStop to go about its business as if there would be an unlimited supply of PS4 consoles on launch day, but apparently even an unlimited amount isn’t enough to quench the thirst of gamers. Amazon.com’s “Launch Day” edition of the console has sold out too, leaving only the Standard (non-launch day) edition.
Amazon do not know if they will receive any more release day stock allocations from Sony, but are encouraging people to keep an eye on the website for any announcements. The Standard edition is still available for pre-order if you’re not worried about getting the console on launch day.
Now if the time to start checking if other retailers still have pre-order allocations left.
