Over the weekend, it’s been confirmed that the PS3 has ended production worldwide. The very last PS2 console has come of the production line, marking an end to the best selling console of all time. This news suggests that Sony is making room for manufacturing the next PlayStation console, rumoured to make an appearance later this year.
The PS2 has seen great success over its (almost) 13 year life span, but the same cannot be said about the PS3 and the PS Vita. As of late, Sony has failed to release successful first-party titles, with PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale missing the mark completely. The PS Vita too has been struggling to gain market share as it approaches it’s one year anniversary in North America and PAL territories.
Lets hope the PS4 is as successful as the PS2, if not better. Everything for Sony now rides on the next console it produces.
