Sony have announced their financial results for the 2nd quarter of the year, running from from July to September 2012. The figures show PS3 and PS2 sold 3.5 million units combined, and the PS Vita and PSP selling 1.6 million units combined. However, the figures don’t reveal how well the PS3 and PS Vita are doing individually.
Sony has cut the projected sales for the PS Vita from 12 million in the current fiscal year (2012-2013), to 10 million sold by the year’s close on March 31, 2013, as a result. Back in Q1, Sony originally reduced its numbers from 16 million down to 12 million units.
The good news is that the PSP and PS Vita sold around 200,000 units more in the second quarter. With the coming holiday season, Q3 will be very important for Sony in hitting that 10 million unit target, as well as determining the success of the PS Vita.
