Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Andrew House, president and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, has revealed Sony’s plans on how the company will use cloud streaming service Gaikai. Sony announced that it will be acquiring Gaikai early this week.
House has confirmed that Gaikai would be focused on “Sony’s game machines” and said that cloud gaming is going to have a “profound and possibly a very positive impact on not only our game business, but also in the way our consumers interact with and obtain content in general”.
House also stated that there was a clear intention to start an “online videogame streaming service” – locking Gaikai down to a very specific purpose. But there was scope to “expanding the technology to other Sony products,” suggesting that we might be seeing PlayStation titles across a range of other devices, including mobile and tablet devices.
