According to some “reliable” specs over on NeoGAF, the PS4 hardware is “more or less set in stone.” The forum post indicates that the PS4, codenamed “Orbis” will feature a AMD CPU with 4 cores and a AMD GPU capable of producing 1.8 teraflops. The RAM is also set at a rather low 2GB of GDDR5 RAM, and unlikely to be upgraded to 4GB.
The specs are as follows:
- AMD CPU 4 cores x-86
- AMD GPU 1150 SPU, 1.8 teraflops, 800 mhz
- 2GB GDDR5 (unlikely this will be bumped to 4GB)
Of course, none of this is confirmed and so we’ve filed it under rumors for now. We won’t know what the final specs are until Sony reveal the upcoming console next year. The above specs are quiet similar to those leaked a few weeks ago – the major difference being the GPU.
