A few hours ago, the PlayStation Network mysteriously went offline for many users. When attempting to sign in, user’s were informed that their password was incorrect, instead of seeing the usual “Maintenance” message shown during scheduled downtime. Luckily, the PSN wasn’t hacked this time.
Sony confirmed PSN issues with a tweet:
We are aware that some of you are having issues accessing PSN, and we’re working to restore service to all. Thank you for your patience.
The PSN is now back online and working again as normal. The downtime wasn’t part of maintenance, so it’s not clear exactly what went wrong. Hopefully, Sony will shed some light on the matter shortly.
