Firmware Update 3.65 made a small update to the PS3 System Software, by renaming the Save Data Utility for Minis to also include PSP save data. The reason for this change is now clear. At the GTMF (Game Tools and Middleware Forum) in Tokyo, Sony announced the PSP Engine – a middleware between the PS3 and a PSP game.
The PSP Engine offers the following features:
- High resolution rendering
- Dual Analog control
- 3DTV output
- Ad-hoc Party functionality
- Expansions to the PSP’s main memory and graphics memory
- Unified save data
Its kind of like a PSP emulator for the PS3, allowing you to enjoy your PSP games on a big screen. Hopefully, the Engine will be expanded to include PS Vita support too.
