If you aren’t confident in upgrading your PS3 Hard Disk youself, Sony has just announced a new service in Japan. The service upgrades your current PS3 to 250GB as well as taking care of moving all the content to the new disk, labor and returning the original drive.
Sony charge ¥18,000 (approx. £126 / $190) for everything, and is available on a number of PS3 models:
- CECHA00 (60GB)
- CECHB00 (20GB)
- CECHH00 (40GB)
- CECHL00 (80GB)
- CECHQ00 (160GB)
- CECH-2000A (120GB)
The price seems a little steep considering you can buy a replacement hard drive for a fraction of that price, but the advantage of this service is you don’t have to spend a few hours backing up your console, replacing the drive and moving all the data back.
Currently, there is no word on if the service is coming to the west.
