2K Games have been accused of cheating gamers following claims that the DLC for BioShock 2 is already present on the game disc. These claims have surfaced due to the small file size of the DLC.
Gamers noticed that the total file size of the DLC is just around 100k. Since the additional features would require a larger file size, there are claims that the price paid for the DLC is to unlock content sitting on the game disc, which gamers have already purchased.
2K community manager ‘2K Elizabeth’ responded to these claims by stating:
I noticed there was a bit of confusion about our Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack file size, and I wanted to clear things up for you. The way our engine and game structure works is that people need to have the exact same content for people to play together. One of the challenges with post launch content for MP is that it can split the player base, and we want to avoid that whenever possible. For this content, creating the DLC package the way we did allowed for us to not split the player base, so whether you purchase the new content or not, you can still play with your friends.
The statement however, has lead to further criticism from users who questioned the validity of the statement, and even still see there being no justification in paying for content already on the disc.
