God of War III, due out next month, is one of few games this year that will not require installing game data to the hard drive. The announcement was made by Christoper Ericson, Santa Monica Director of Technology, over twitter stating “God of War III does NOT do a HD install. The 5MB listed on box back is for save game only.”
The game itself packs in over 35GB of data onto a dual-layer Blu-ray disc, which would normally warrant hard drive installation to speed up loading of data. The European version of the game takes up even more space, using up 40GB of data, due to the additional localization required.
