The latest PlayStation Network numbers have been revealed by SCEA CEO Jack Tretton. The PlayStation Network experienced huge growth last year, marking its best revenue month in December. “A 155% increase in sales from the previous year,” according to Tretton. The service now has over 40 million registered users. In early January 2009, the number of registered users was only 17 million.
Of course, many people have multiple PSN accounts in order to access content across different regions. I have three different accounts myself – one for each of the major regions (US, Europe and Japan).

That is great news, does anyone know how many people are on the XBOX LIVE network?
There’s rumours Sony is going to start charging for PSN. Hope online gaming is still free since it is something i don’t do that often – so don’t wanna pay for a month n only be using it for a day!

@ice2kewl these are no longer rumors. Sony is actively thinking about charging for certain PSN services. All existing free services will remain free.
