Unlocking trophies is a good way to motivate gamers into achieving some difficult feats. Final Fantasy XIII takes this further and rewards players who unlock a specific trophy by giving them an exclusive XMB theme. The information was revealed in the latest Degenki Japanese video game magazine. It is unclear is a similar feature will make it to the Xbox 360 version of the game. The game is released in Japan next Thursday, and won’t be available in the West until March 2010.
Final Fantasy XIII is the first game to reward gamers for unlocking trophies, and it certainly won’t be the first. In other Final Fantasy XIII related news, the latest issue of Japanese publication Famitsu has given Final Fantasy XIII a near perfect score of 39/40. The only minor complaint was “battle damage being difficult to see, and the screen being cluttered,” though the review goes on to note that “the amount of enjoyment this game offers more than makes up for it.”

That’s cool. I hate waiting for good games to come out!
