Sony are looking to increase their profits in 2010, and part of their strategy is to introduce a subscription service to the PlayStation Network. SCE head Kaz Hirai was quick to note that current PlayStation Network services will remain free. Hirai explains, “we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services.”
That means you will be able to continue to play games online for free, as well as access PlayStation Home, Life with PlayStation and other services. Hirai didn’t specify what kind of premium services are coming to PSN, but they could include subscriptions to download unlimited games per month, or even download unlimited video content from the recently releases Video Store.
