Around a month ago, the ESRB broke word of Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Commander’s Challenge for PS3 and Xbox 360. While it did raise some hopes that the Uprising expansion would be made available to console gamers, an official announcement from Electronic Arts has confirmed that only the Commander’s Challenge mode will be making the jump. Those who bought Red Alert 3’s PC version will recognize Commander’s Challenge as a mode included in the PC exclusive Uprising expansion where players fight through 50 unique and successively tougher scenarios.
The console version of the mode will be the same thing – 50 challenges against a total of nine different commanders sprinkled with some new units and the series’ live-action cinematics. Players will have to fight everything from giant Soviet war bears to massive satellite orbital bombardments.
Playing through the challenges gradually unlocks more units, technology and new challenges. Gameplay time for the new mode is expected to last somewhere around 30 hours. Additionally, each challenge is equipped with a par time set by the dev team that is up to the most competitive players to beat.
Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Commander’s Challenge will be available this autumn on PlayStation Network for $9.99 (around £6.99). Sounds like a great deal for C&C fans. You don’t even need to have Red Alert 3 to play it. It’s likely that the new mode will include unlockable trophies.
RTS games don’t work on consoles. Got it on the Pc tho, its still good. Nothing will ever beat the orginal though!
