At the Games Convention in Leipzig, Sony has officially announced the release of the third-generation PlayStation Portable (PSP-3000). The new PSP model will have a built-in mic, have a enhanced LCD screen what will increase the intensity and number of colours that can be displayed. According to David Reeves, the new PSP will launch in PAL territories on October 15th 2008, retailing for ?199 (approx. $292).
what!!!! oh well, that’s good. i sold my old psp (the fat model, bought in 2006) and hope to buy the psp2000 model, but hey, if there is a 3000 model, then so be it. lets wait. thanks for the news. xtremepsp.com

They need to scrap the old psp and come out with a new revamped version. Not just adding stupid upgrades and saying it’s a new psp. their idiots and want to squeeze our money out.
i think what the psp (old or new) needs to come out with is a huge selection of damn games there letting the DS out do them in games. there games suck! and why can’t sony just add thouchscreen as a new feature that you can just load from network?
Sony has continued to come out with hardware revisions because they believe the homebrew community causes low software sales (the new hardware on the 200x models have yet to be cracked).
So, assuming it gets cracked then it won’t be long until a PSP 400x model gets released.
That could also mean a yearly hardware revision (which is what Sony has been advertising these as) could happen until Sony either feels they’ve got it right or the sytem dies, as the homebrew community is unlikely to die until some years after the console.
Rumors say that later versions of this new model will be sporting a faster refresh rate on the screen, 12ms instead of the current 60ms which will mean far less ghosting.
It is those rumors, and that I’ve found newer games to be made for the Slim only that leaves me planning on buying one of these new models soon enough. Probably not until after I get a Pandora though (openpandora.org).
Finally, the bundle coming out next in NA (with the silver PSP) will have a 3001 unit and a 4GB memory stick, news of which is on the Sony Blog.
sony thinks that they can battle piracy by makin more games downloadable. but then there will be a larger demand 4 a price drop in mem sticks and a demand for a psp with a Hdd, which is what the 3000 model was SOPPOSED 2 have.
BTW, have any of u guys with custom firmware benn havin trouble downloading things from the ps store?? i keep downloading things, pics videps, themes, etc and they all show up as currupt data on my psp,. WTF, Ibought a family guy video and it is currupted, and the ps store says i have to buy it again .wtf, sony?!!

I Hear A Rumour That Sony Hasn’t Announced All That Is Going To Be Improved With The New PSP. will be able to play games using the PS3’s dual-shock controller And that it will be compatible with composite cables (480i) to play games through the TV instead of requiring a component 480p
sony only release new crappy updates and don’t care about their customers. nintendo keep releaseing new fresh games so i sold my psp for a ds. cheaper and better
it was a good choice; if you want to buy a handheld just to play great games, the ds is the way 2 go.
